The Philadelphia Phillies are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Team Chef to oversee culinary operations for our Major League clubhouse. This role is essential in supporting the performance, health, and well-being of our players, coaches, and staff through high-quality, nutritious meals. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership, and a collaborative spirit to enhance the dining experience and ensure that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning: Design daily and game-specific menus that prioritize performance, nutrition, and taste, while accommodating individual dietary needs and preferences of players and staff.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and cleanliness. Ensure that health and safety standards are strictly followed.
- Inventory and Ordering: Manage food and supply inventory, place orders as needed, and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure high-quality, fresh ingredients.
- Budgeting: Manage the kitchen’s budget, track expenses and optimize resources without compromising quality.
- Staff Management: Supervise, schedule, and train kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations. Provide leadership in maintaining a positive, team-oriented atmosphere in the kitchen.
- Collaboration: Work closely with players, coaches, dietitians, and medical staff to tailor meals to performance needs. Ensure clear communication with clubhouse executives and personnel to provide top-notch service.
- Special Events: Cater for special events and team-related functions within the clubhouse as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, preferably within a sports or hospitality environment.
- Proven experience in menu planning, inventory management, and budgeting.
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, coaches, and executives.
- ServSafe certification or similar food safety accreditation.
- Must be available for extended travel to Clearwater, FL during MLB Spring Training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or professional chef certification.
- Previous experience in a professional sports team environment.
- Knowledge of sports nutrition and performance-enhancing meal planning.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
