Minor League Performance Nutrition Coordinator
Job Summary:
Oversee MiLB performance nutrition and catering management. This role focuses on implementing comprehensive nutrition programs, including food safety practices; team, small group and individual education/consultations; organizational and individualized hydration and nutrition supplement strategies; and affiliate catering. Communication and integration with a variety of staff members is essential to the success of this role including strength & conditioning, sports medicine (e.g., physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists), performance science, mental health and wellbeing, clubhouse managers, and performance department leadership. This position also serves as a link within the Cardinals player development system helping to prepare athletes for optimal performance at the major league level while maintaining close alignment with organizational and industry protocols and best practices.
Job Duties:
- Oversee and spearhead the growth of the St. Louis Cardinals MiLB performance nutrition program
- Work with players and strength & conditioning staff to align anthropometric goals
- Conduct nutrition consultations to provide individualized nutrition strategies for players based on needs (medical, individual) and/or performance goals (general, skill)
- Serve as a link between medical staff and player(s) to help provide prescribed nutrition therapy to help monitor and manage diagnosed medical conditions
- Assist with inventory management of supplements and other performance nutrition integrations at MiLB affiliates
- Oversee food service operations at all MiLB affiliates
- Coordinate home and road menus to meet the Cardinals nutrition best practices with affiliate strength and conditioning coaches, caterers, and/or chefs
Additional Job Duties:
- Communicating effectively with staff and players within the player development system
- Collaborate closely with performance staff on player health and performance strategies
- Work jointly with strength and conditioning and clubhouse staff on catering and performance dining
- Team up with MiLB coordinator group (i.e., medical, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation) on supplement products and best practices
- Daily and bi-monthly reporting to directors, MiLB performance department supervisors, and player development staff
Education/Employment Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in sport/performance nutrition or related field
- Registered dietitian
- Eligible to obtain a dietitian/nutritionist license in Florida
- Minimum 2 years' experience in private, professional, and/or intercollegiate settings
- Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
- Knowledge of NSF Certified for Sport Program ©, food service operations, catering logistics, quality control, and food safety practices
- Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Education/Employment Preferred:
- CSSD (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics)
- Prior experience overseeing and managing budgets
- Strong desire for continuing education and innovation
- Bilingual - English and Spanish
