Sports Nutrition Graduate Assistant

Primary Job Responsibilities:


  • Serve as primary nutrition liaison/dietitian for 2-3 OU Athletics teams
  • Perform nutrition education in the form of: team educational talks, grocery store tours, cooking demos, fueling station education handouts, team manuals, nutrition competitions
  • Create and develop nutrition education posts for social media for OU Sports Nutrition
  • Conduct body composition testing – via Bodpod and/or DEXA machines
  • Assist with development of performance menus for home and away competition
  • Assist with the team and performance nutrition needs of specified teams included but not limited to: pre, during, and post nutrition planning, snack bags, menus, post-game meals
  • Develop and carry out nutrition plans for individual athletes
  • Counsel athletes on proper nutrition, supplements, weight goals, performance, and more
  • Ability to oversee inventory, manage ordering, receiving, distribution, and procurement of goods of specified sports utilizing current system in place
  • Forecast weekly needs for sport-specific fueling stations
  • Coordinate with sport coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, sport psychology, and team physicians on the nutritional care of student-athletes
  • Management oversight of student interns
  • Successfully engage in academic coursework culminating in a graduate degree
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition

Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition related field from an accredited college/university required
  • At least (1) year of sports nutrition-related experience in the collegiate setting is desirable
  • Must be eligible for acceptance into specified graduate programs (options are limited are limited due to the time demands of the position)

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:


  • Registered Dietitian or RD eligible (Pass exam within 6 months of hire) 
  • Obtain license as required by the state of Oklahoma if RD (required upon hire)
