Sports Nutrition Fellow - Football

Athletics is currently seeking candidates for the role of Sports Nutrition
Fellow - Football. Tentative start date is the beginning of football summer
conditioning on May 26, 2026 and will last the entire year until May 2027.
This position is a 1-year
position that will assist the Football Nutrition Department in providing
nutrition services and support to our football student-athletes. The
individual, under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of
Football Nutrition, will execute the day-to-day nutrition operations for the
football team as well as assist in nutrition education, 1:1 counseling,
recruiting operations, travel and game day nutrition, and other duties as
required for the football program.
Essential Functions:
● Maintain a consistent presence at football events throughout the week by participating and/or attending team meals, conducting weigh-ins, afternoon/nighttime snacks, and any nutritional and hydration needs for practice (pre-fuel, refuel, personalized hydration plans, etc).
● Optimize all aspects of nutrition related to student-athlete team practices and strength and conditioning sessions (pre- and post-workout fueling and hydration).
● Develop and assist in facilitating team nutrition education sessions.
● Nutrition assessment and counseling of student-athletes on optimal nutrition practices.
● Management of the day-to-day football nutrition operations. This includes product inventory, ordering, receiving, and distribution of goods.
● Develop and design educational materials and manuals using Canva and powerpoint.
● Participate in the football recruiting activities to provide prospective student-athletes and family members with a comprehensive overview of performance nutrition services. This includes Junior Days, Deacon Days, Commit BBQs, official and unofficial recruiting visits, etc.
● Perform and interpret results of nutrition and body composition assessments via DEXA.
● Assist in meal plan and menu plan development. This includes but is not limited to: pre- and post-practice snacks, catered snacks, grab-n-go snacks, pre- and post-game meals.
● Document nutrition services provided and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition strategies towards meeting desired outcomes.
● Research, evaluation, education, recommendation, and provision of permissible dietary supplements, as needed/appropriate.
● Manage nutrition interns, work study students, and volunteers on the day-to-day tasks for the football nutrition program.
● Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Football Nutrition.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
● Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field.
● Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or RD Eligible.
● Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of North Carolina within 1 month of hire.
● Minimum 1 year of experience in collegiate setting.
● Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-traditional work hours, and overnight travel as needed.
● Ability to gain and maintain a working knowledge of rules and regulations of the Wake Forest University, ACC Conference, NCAA and United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regarding nutritional supplements, banned drugs and restricted substances.
● Ability and willingness to comply with disclosure regulations relative to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
● Master’s degree in sports nutrition, exercise physiology, sports psychology or other health related field.
● Working knowledge of ACC conference, NCAA, and USADA rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift boxes and unload pallets of product up to 25-50 pounds.
